To save you time and not have you waste money on products that don't work well, I compiled a list of my favorite yoga resources. I use each of these items in my yoga practice and feel really good about recommending them.
This is the yoga mat I use: "Harmony" by JadeYoga. I love it because it's sticky (so there is no risk of sliding) and it's made out of natural rubber. Rated "Best Yoga Mat of 2024" by the New York Times. It comes in many colors and in two lengths (68" and 74"). If you are 5'8" or taller, I recommend the longer one.
This is an inexpensive starter set that I recommend to most of my yoga students. It includes a pair of lightweight yoga blocks plus a 6' yoga strap (that's long enough for anything we do in my group classes).
If you sweat a lot during yoga and are tired of having to clean your yoga mat, I recommend you get this yoga towel. I’ve tried many yoga towels but always come back to this one from Yogitoes (despite its high price). You place it on top of your yoga mat to catch any sweat drips. After class, throw this towel in the washing machine and hang it to dry. Comes in multiple colors/designs.
If your yoga space at home is carpeted, this Yoga Board provides a stable, flat foundation to put your yoga mat on. Designed by yogis for yogis.

I created this 50-page guide for yoga novices because it's the resource that I wish I had had when I started with yoga. In this guide, I take away any fear or hesitation you might have about starting yoga and guide you through the journey. Also includes 3 pre-recorded yoga classes designed for yoga novices.
This book offers 75 simple meditations to reduce stress, improve mental health, and find peace in the everyday. They are great for novice meditators.
Yoga is about connecting with the breath. After reading this book about the science of the breath, you'll never think about your breath the same way. It was an eye-opening read for me.

You need a high-quality microphone when teaching yoga so that your students can hear you well and can follow your cues. This RODE Wireless Go II microphone is among the best. You attach one part to your computer/phone and clip the other part to your shirt or bra strap.
Unless your yoga room is large and you can place your webcam far away from you, you need a wide-angle webcam (it shows not only more width but also more height). This way, your students can see your entire body, even with your arms raised. This modestly priced wide-angle 1080p webcam by AVer Media does a nice job. I use it for my classes.
I rarely ever teach an online yoga class without turning on these softboxes from Neewer. They are fabulous for illuminating the teacher without generating any extra heat. You'll be amazed how much better your students will be able to see you and by the improvement in the video recording quality.
