How I Stretch my Back to Prevent Back Pain

If your life is anything like mine, then you spend hours each day in front of your computer and on back-to-back Zoom calls. Is your back feeling stiff? Do you need to send your spine some love?
The spine is a complex structure comprising muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones. It's designed to move side-to-side, front to back, and to twist, as well as carry the bulk of your body's weight. That's why it's so important to keep all its parts in good working order.
Regular stretching exercises help keep muscles and ligaments flexible. If we don't stretch regularly, our bodies can become stiff, more limited in movement, and we can feel pain. Have you been noticing any back pain recently? If you're not convinced yet about the importance of stretching, check out this article published by Harvard Medical School [click here].
Moving the spine forward, backward, twisting, and sideways is important for the health of your spine. Our bodies LOVE to move, especially our spine! Here are 7 ways to move your spine in various directions. I could show you many more. You can also download these stretches as a PDF file: Stretches for the Spine.pdf

You can explore these poses individually or combine them all into a home yoga practice focused on your spine. We might also explore some of these poses in my virtual Stretch-to-Flex course.
