Be inspired to achieve your peak potential

Do you secretly dream of making a change?
Maybe you dream of moving to a different city/state/country, switching jobs, or starting your own business? Perhaps you dream of learning to paint, trying yoga, or climbing mountains? Maybe you dream of living a bigger life?
You are not alone. We all have dreams.
Yet how often do we NOT pursue those dreams because we are afraid? Afraid of failure, of looking stupid, and fearful of even trying
Whenever I notice that fear, I like to read an inspirational book to let go of my limiting beliefs. One such book I recently read is by Randy Pierce.
I recently met Randy at a virtual corporate event where he spoke about letting go of limiting beliefs and reaching our peak potential. What gives Randy the credibility to talk about this?
Randy has climbed all 48 of New Hampshire’s mountains with peaks over 4,000 feet -- in a single winter season. Pretty impressive, yes?
What if you knew that Randy is blind?
Yes, Randy has climbed these mountains, ran the Boston marathon, and participated in obstacle races ... all while being blind.
In 1989, Randy Pierce was a 22-year-old recent graduate of the University of New Hampshire. He was embarking on a career as a hardware design engineer at Digital Equipment.
Then suddenly, over two weeks, he lost all of the vision in his right eye and half of the vision in his left eye to a devastating neurological disease. Over the next 11 years, he lost what remaining sight he had.
When he was 39, the disorder attacked again, leaving him in a wheelchair. For nearly two years, he battled his way out of the chair and back on his feet.
When he succeeded, he set himself a new goal: to climb all 48 of New Hampshire’s mountains with heights over 4,000 feet, most of which are in the White Mountains, in a ten-year period. Two years later, he accomplished all 48 peaks in a single winter season.
Randy inspires us to reach beyond adversity and achieve our peak potential.
He argues that our response to a challenge has a much more significant impact on our lives than any challenge ever could.
"I don't have a sight, but I can have a vision." -- Randy Pierce
If you want to be inspired, I invite you to listen to his TEDx talk, watch the documentary "Four More Feet," or read his book "See You at the Summit: My Blind Journey from the Depths of Loss to the Heights of Achievement."
He reminds us to reframe our thinking from "I can't do this" to "How can I do this?".

How could you use this framework in your own life? Is there something you have been dreaming of, but limiting beliefs held you back from pursuing it?
Let this be the reminder to reframe your beliefs. Instead of saying, "I can't do this," ask yourself, "How can I do this?".
I leave you with this quote:
“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.” – Michael Jordan
Best,
Christine
P.S. Randy's book also provides terrific insights into the powerful relationships that blind people develop with their guide dogs, being a New England Patriots super-fan, and how technology has helped him as a blind person.
