A slow yoga routine before bedtime can improve your sleep quality

How has the quality of your sleep been recently? I've heard from many of you that you haven't been sleeping as well during the past year. Many of us are waking up in the middle of the night or waking up much earlier than we used to. Given the increased stress we have been under over the past year, it's not really surprising that we aren't sleeping well.
Research has shown that stretching and meditative movement like yoga before bedtime can improve sleep quality. These low-intensity exercises elicit a relaxation response. They flood your body with calming hormones and create physiological reactions that quiet your nervous system.
I've created a short yoga routine for you that you can do right before bedtime to calm down your nervous system. You could even do it in bed. While you're doing the routine, I encourage you to take deep, slow breaths with an emphasis on long exhales. Slow, controlled breathing is calming.
