The sweetest holiday traditions ...

Hi there, it’s hard to believe we’re already into December, right?

I just returned from my visit to Vienna, where we celebrated my dad's 85th birthday. The city must have known it was my dad's birthday, since it was decked out with lights and bows -- just for him 😉. What a festive look!

Looking at the festive decorations was step one in getting me into the holiday spirit. Step two was getting my chocolate advent calendar.

Yes, I'm 53, and I'm OK admitting to buying an advent calendar for myself every year! (If you've been with me for a while, you know I have a big sweet tooth).

Actually, I bought three advent calendars this year: a Milka one from Austria, a Lindt one from the US, and a Trader Joe's one for my cat, filled with salmon treats.

It's wonderful to have a small piece of chocolate (or two) to go with my coffee every morning to start the day with a cheerful attitude.

So, I'm curious: what holiday/tradition is really important to you this December?

Truly, I’d love to know. The amazing thing about having this email list is that I get to meet so many different people with so many different ways of enjoying life. Sure, we all share an interest in yoga and a desire to live full lives without burnout, but I’m sure we all celebrate December differently.

I’d love to hear anything about what your December will look like. What are you excited about this holiday season? How do you celebrate? Anything! I’m all ears.

And if the holidays feel weighted and heavy and sad – I want to hear that, too.

Human to human - we have to be here for each other.

I nearly forgot to tell you about another of my holiday traditions: my grandma's chocolate nut rum balls; we call them "Rumkugeln" in Austria. Email me if you want the recipe.

Loaded with rich chocolate and hazelnuts, packed with rum to taste, and finished off with sprinkles, these sweet and tiny morsels won't last long on your dessert plate. Feel free to leave out the rum; they are tasty even without the alcohol.

Best,

Christine
