People with strong social ties are happier, healthier, and live longer

I know — the world feels heavy right now. It's easy to get caught up in the news and forget to take a breath.

So, let's press pause, take a deep breath, and chat about something that can lift us all up: friendships!

Friends aren't just the folks we text when we're bored or need a favor. They're like the secret sauce that makes life richer, spicier, and much more fun.

And it’s not just me saying that. Researchers at Harvard found that people with strong social ties are happier, healthier, and even live longer.

Now, speaking of friendships, let me share a little story. On my recent trip back home, I got in touch with a friend from way back when. We're talking high school days. We hadn't been in touch in over 30 years.

We decided to get together for lunch. And boom — 3 1/2 hours just flew by! We laughed, we reminisced, and it felt like no time had passed. We had just as much fun as we did in our teenage years.

Magic, right?

"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What? You, too? I thought I was the only one." -- C.S. Lewis, British literary scholar

That's exactly what it felt like! 😄

So, what’s the takeaway? In a super unpredictable world, our friendships can be like an anchor. They're our go-to people when we're stressed, happy, or just wanna share random thoughts.

And right now, when life's tossing us curveballs left and right, don't underestimate the power of a simple "Hey, how are you?"

Alright, it's challenge time: I want you to reach out to ONE old friend today.

If you don't have their contact info, you can probably find them on Facebook or LinkedIn. Once you've found them, simply write, "Hi, I just came across your profile and it made me smile. I wanted to say hi and find out how you're doing."

You never know; it might turn into the highlight of your week.

That's all for now. I will be back in your inbox next Saturday.

Best,

Christine
