Discover the stress-busting legs-up-the-wall yoga pose

I don't know about you, but I find myself being very busy during this time of year. To keep my energy up throughout this busy time, I make sure to take short breaks during the day, regardless of how packed my schedule is.

I encourage you to do the same!

If you do nothing else this week, I want you to practice my favorite mini-break. It takes just a few minutes. It will have you feeling more calm and relaxed in no time.

What might this magical relaxation tool be? It's called Viparita Karani.

In Sanskrit, viparita means “inverted” and karani translates to “in action.” This pose is easy to do yet packs a punch in the wellness department.

Benefits:

The legs-up-the-wall pose helps you chill out and guides your body into a state of relaxation, it reduces leg swelling (super helpful at the end of each day and especially after a long drive or flight), and it is said to cure headaches and lower high blood pressure.

How to:

To get into the legs-up-the-wall pose, first lay down a yoga mat or blanket next to a wall. Lie down on it, scooting your butt close to the wall as you swing your legs up against it. A thin pillow for your head is optional but comfy. Rest your legs against the wall with your knees relaxed. Breathe deeply and enjoy the stretch for 2-3 minutes or longer if you like, then slowly return to a seated position.

So there you have it, a simple yet powerful way to destress and give your circulatory system a boost. Perfect for busy professionals like you who need a quick and effective way to unwind.

I encourage you to practice this pose right now. You'll be amazed how good you'll feel after just 2-3 minutes in this pose.

Best,

Christine
