holiday traditions

What holiday tradition is important to you this December?

It’s hard to believe we’re already into December, right? It's a busy season, so I will keep this short and sweet. Indeed, very sweet! 😋

Do you have any favorite holiday traditions?

One of my favorite holiday traditions is picking up a chocolate Advent calendar. Yes, I'm in my early 50s, and I'm OK admitting to buying an advent calendar for myself every year! (If you've been with me for a while, you know I have a big sweet tooth).

I skipped this tradition during my 20s because I didn't think it was cool. But a great thing about getting older is that I care much less about what other people think and do things that make me happy, no matter what other people will think. Have you noticed that for yourself too?

Having an Advent calendar gets me into the holiday spirit instantly. It's wonderful to have a small piece of chocolate to go with my coffee every morning to start the day with a cheerful attitude. And it helps me to count down to Christmas.

So, I'm curious: what holiday/tradition is really important to you this December?

Truly, I’d love to know. The amazing thing about having this weekly blog is that I get to meet so many different people with so many different ways of enjoying life. Sure, we all share an interest in yoga and a desire to live full lives without burnout, but I’m sure we all celebrate December differently.

I’d love to hear anything about what your December will look like: What are you excited about this holiday season? How do you celebrate? Anything! I’m all ears.

And if the holidays feel weighted and heavy and sad – I want to hear that, too.

Human to human - we have to be here for each other.

I can't wait to hear from you.

I nearly forgot to tell you about another of my holiday traditions: my grandma's chocolate nut rum balls; we call them "Rumkugeln" in German. Click here to download the recipe that I translated into English for you.

Loaded with rich chocolate and walnuts, packed with rum to taste, and finished off with sprinkles, these sweet and tiny morsels won't last long on your dessert plate. Feel free to leave out the rum; they are tasty even without the alcohol!

Best,

Christine
