It's time to enjoy your office space more

Hi, have you ever wondered what my yoga "office" looks like? Here you go:

That’s the workspace for my yoga business.

I share this with you because I want to give you an inside glimpse into what it’s like to run a yoga business and teach yoga online.

I've put thought into creating my yoga space so that it works well for me and, most importantly, so it works well for my yoga students.

🧘🏻‍♀️ I installed a big-screen TV on the wall above my laptop (on the right) so that I can see my students well and can adjust my alignment cues based on what I see.

🧘🏻‍♀️ I have two large softbox lights and a white mandala backdrop (on the left) so that my students can see me clearly and so I "pop" from the background when I demonstrate yoga poses. (I also invested in a special mic that's attached to my shirt when teaching, so my students hear me well).

🧘🏻‍♀️ I added a cushioned cubby hole at the bottom of the shelves so that Ms. Ringtail, my cat, can hang out with me while I teach. She is the boss in my home, so I need to keep her happy. 🐱

I also enjoy some of the little details, such as the ceramic meditation frog, a small painting of me teaching my first-ever yoga class online, the pink Buddha painting, and the colorful meditation cushions.

While your office might look a lot different from my "yoga office" (it might actually contain a desk and a chair!), I invite you to have a look around and see if you could make some minor improvements to your workspace.

After all, if you're spending most of your waking hours in your office, you might as well enjoy the space.

Here are some ideas ...

📌 Invest in a high-quality ergonomic chair, so you feel less tired at the end of the day. It's so worth it!

📌 Buy a gorgeous water decanter and glass to keep on your desk at all times. Fill the decanter every morning and sip from your water glass throughout the day to stay hydrated.

📌 Grab a cozy throw from your bedroom or living room and drape it over the back of your chair so it's there to put on your lap during nippy winter days. (On really cold days, it's also nice to have an electric space heater at your feet).

📌 Treat yourself to fresh flowers or a plant. If you lack a green thumb, a fake plant will do, too. (You get the same mental benefits from fake and real plants alike. Click here to read my previous blog about the benefits of bringing nature inside your home).

📌 Declutter your space and then add back one or two pieces that are meaningful to you. Maybe put a photo from a recent trip or your favorite motivational quote into a beautiful frame. Display something that makes you smile when you see it.

Let me know which of these ideas you might try for your office space.

Best,
Christine
